National Level 1 Refereeing Course

Interested in becoming a referee? Passing a Level one refereeing course qualifies you to referee school and club rugby matches – as well as joining your local referee society.


Course information

The Level 1 course is 6 hours in total and is mainly practical with a short introduction indoors and a course exam to finish. The course is free to everyone who attends. All attendees will receive a Law Book and links to Age Grade Law Variations. You will need to bring a whistle and appropriate outdoor kit for the practical sessions.


After you've completed the course and passed the exam you are able to referee up to and including Regional League 2, Schools, and youth rugby.

Pre-requisites

You must complete the following online courses before attending a Level 1 course.

World Rugby -Rugby Ready
World Rugby - Laws Exam
World Rugby – Introduction to Match Officiating

To register for a place on one of the scheduled courses, select the course of your choice from the list below and register your details.

Consideration will be given to any requests by clubs to hold a course for their members at the club outside the dates of the scheduled courses listed below.
