2022 FOSROC SUPER6 TEAM OF THE WEEK | ROUND 1

2022 FOSROC SUPER6 TEAM OF THE WEEK | ROUND 1

Following the weekend's round of FOSROC Super6 fixtures, we’ll bring you a Team of the Week selected from those who stood out for us over the weekend.

In the opening weekend of the 2022 FOSROC Super6, Ayrshire Bulls got underway with a home win against Heriot’s Rugby (33-17), Boroughmuir Bears secured an away win at Bridgehaugh against Stirling Wolves (10-27) and Watsonians continued where they left off in the Sprint Series with a win away to Southern Knights (12-36).

FRONT ROW
There were four tries scored by our chosen front row this week. Callum Smith of the Bears is selected at loose head and Lewis Skinner of the Wolves is at tight head, with the pair bagging a try each at Bridgehaugh.

Making a real impact of the bench and scoring two tries, James Malcolm of the Bulls is chosen at hooker.

SECOND ROW
The Bears’ Jack Fisher won the FOSROC Player of the Match award in Stirling, and he is joined by Ronan Seydak who got through a power of work for Heriot’s.

BACK-ROW
Craig Keddie led by example as he captained the Bears to victory from blindside flanker, scoring a crucial try. Karl Main also crossed the line for Watsonians, and put in a huge shift from openside.

They are joined in the back row by Blair MacPherson at number 8, who picked up the FOSROC Player of the Match award for the Bulls after a number of strong carries for his side. Jack Mann was unlucky to miss out after a dynamic performance for Heriot’s.

HALF-BACKS
Gregor Christie excellently finished off a try for the Wolves and provided quick ball for his side, earning him the scrum-half selection.

He is paired with Jason Baggott, who kept the scoreboard ticking over for Watsonians with his boot whilst their game was tight and did well to score a try of his own.

CENTRE

Connor Eastgate was given the FOSROC Player of the Match award in Melrose after he was involved in much of the good play from his side’s backline from inside centre.

Robert Beattie’s two-try performance for the Bulls meant he was just too good to omit, and he has been awarded the outside centre spot.

BACK-THREE
Two tries for Sam Pecqueur is enough to earn him the left wing spot. Elias Caven was a constant danger for the Bulls, and was also too good to leave out meaning he has been selected on the right.

At full back, Tom Brown didn’t put a foot wrong for the Bears and showed his experience throughout, particularly when the Meggetland side were attacking.
