FOSROC SUPER6 SPRINT SERIES TEAM OF THE WEEK | PLAY OFF ROUND 3

Following the weekend's round of FOSROC Super6 Sprint Series fixtures, we’ll bring you a Team of the Week selected from those who stood out for us over the weekend.

In the final weekend of the FOSROC Super6 Sprint Series Playoffs, Watsonians lifted the trophy after beating runners up Stirling County (24-21), and Heriot’s Rugby secured fourth place by beating Boroughmuir Bears at Meggetland (38-12).

FRONT ROW
The two standout performers at prop were Chris Keen, who put in a big shift for Heriot’s, and George Breese, who’s mobility and speed was impressive for Stirling County.

In between them at hooker is Angus Fraser, who secured the FOSROC Player of the Match award for Stirling County and scored a try.

SECOND ROW
Heriot’s Fraser Hastie is included for a second week in a row, and this week he is joined by Bears’ Ewan Stewart. The two worked tirelessly for their sides as the battled against each other in the boiler room.

BACK-ROW
This week’s back-row starts with the selection of County’s George Arnott at blindside flanker. He is paired with Iain Wilson at openside, who’s ruthless three-try performance earned him the FOSROC Player of the Match award.

At number 8 is Ruairidh Leishman, who scored a fantastic try for Heriot’s.

HALF-BACKS
This week, it was Murdo McAndrew who stood out at scrum half. His excellent service created a strong platform for Heriot’s to build their victory from.

Lee Millar pairs with McAndrew at fly-half, with his kicking percentage of around 90% being pivotal for Watsonians.

CENTRE
Ryan Southern is chosen at inside centre for his ability to break through the defensive line and his excellent try assist.

He is paired with Matt Currie who goes in at outside centre, who worked hard in defence doing the unseen work and made line breaks too.

Lee Millar’s kicking was pivotal to Watsonians’ success.

BACK-THREE
Stevie Hamilton’s try for County at an important time in the match earns him the left wing spot. On the right, Lomond MacPherson is picked after finishing off a brilliant opening score.

At fullback, Harry Paterson signed off his Sprint Series campaign fantastically in both defence and attack, with his step and offload creating Watsonians’ first try.
