Jason Leitch and Dominic McKay on this week's podcast
On this week's episode of the Official Scottish Rugby Podcast, we are joined by the Scottish Government's National Clinical Director, Jason Leitch and Scottish Rugby's Chief Operating Officer, Dominic McKay.
Professor Jason Leitch joins us on the podcast for a third time to discuss the latest developments around COVID-19 in Scotland as rugby begins to return, while Dominic McKay provides an update on the Return to Rugby Roadmap and the work which is going on behind the scenes.
Speaking on this week’s Official Scottish Rugby Podcast, Professor Jason Leitch, said: “We’re trying to balance [what] sport gives to the population, so we brought back kids’ sport before most other countries, even contact sport for kids, because it’s so so important that kids are physically active, they learn about teamwork, confrontation, how to play as a group; learning some of the life skills that rugby can give them.”
Scottish Rugby Chief Operating Officer, Dominic McKay, added: “It’s been great to work so closely with the Government, with Jason and his colleagues, because we as a governing body see the importance of getting as many young people back out playing sport. Our colleagues in Rugby Development have been working really hard to try and find the right way to get rugby restarted at adult level."
They also discuss a potential pilot event at BT Murrayfield and what the Autumn International calendar is looking like.
The Scottish Rugby Official Podcast can be downloaded from PodBean, Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Acast, and you can subscribe to get it downloaded automatically to your device each time an episode is released.
