Fergusson & McCann tries get Team GB off to a flyer in Tokyo

The GB Rugby 7s men's team kicked-off their Olympic campaign with impressive opening day victories over Canada and hosts Japan in Tokyo.

Scottish quartet Max McFarland, Robbie Fergusson, Ross McCann and Alec Coombes started the opening game against Canada on the Team GB bench, but were able to make their impact in the second half of the game.

McCann ran through to score two minutes from the end before Fergusson added a fourth try in the closing seconds to seal a 24-0 victory.

Team GB carried that blistering form into their second match of the day at Tokyo Stadium against Japan, beating the hosts 34-0 to go top of Pool B. McFarland, Fergusson, McCann and Coombes all making impacts off the bench again.

Next up for the men's side is a 2016 final re-match against Fiji, who beat GB to win gold five years ago.

The GB Women's Rugby 7s team get their campaign underway on Thursday morning against Russia (KO 03:30 BST).
