Tennent’s Leagues Round 3 | Preview

It’s week three of the 2021/22 Tennent’s leagues - here’s what’s to come this weekend.

There’s a borders derby at Mansfield Park as Hawick entertain Selkirk, while Jed-Forest and Aberdeen Grammar will be hoping for first wins of the season against Glasgow Hawks and Marr respectively. Elsewhere, Edinburgh Accies make the relatively short trip to Musselburgh and Currie Chieftains play host to GHA.

Tennent’s National 1 activity in the men’s competition starts this evening with the first game of the weekend on Friday with Stirling Wolves hosting Ayr at 7:30pm, before Saturday’s games see Heriot’s travel to face Highland and early pacesetters Kelso take on Gala at Netherdale in what will be a keenly contested local derby.

There are three other league fixtures at Melrose, Biggar and Cartha Queen’s Park.

Elsewhere in the Women’s domestic game, Tennent’s East/Midlands, West and Caledonia North leagues resume.

As previously reported, seven new Women’s teams will enter the regional structure this season as 1stXV teams from Dunfermline RFC, Dundee Valkyries, Strathmore RFC, Fraserburgh RFC, Bishopton RFC and Caithness RFC transition into the competitive league structure from their previous regional development structure.

Cartha Queen’s Park also see the addition of their first Women’s 2nd XV enter the competitive set-up.
