England U18 v Scotland U18 Boys

Although Scotland had good phases of play in the opening few moments of the game it was England who got the first points on the scoreboard when Scotland were penalised for a scrum infringement.

Ten minutes in, Scotland were awarded a penalty at the scrum and kicked for touch. From the line out they went through their phases and hooker Elliot Young bundled over the try line but was judge to have been held up.

Moments later Scotland successfully got points on the board when Tom Currie forced his way over the whitewash to give Scotland a two point lead.

Scotland captain Liam McConnell was shown a yellow card for a deliberate knock on the 18th minute.

Scotland done well to defend with only 14-men for the full duration of McConnell’s card but they did allow England to score a converted try in the corner shortly after his return, following a sustained period of defensive play to make it England 10-5 Scotland.

Near on the half-hour mark Scotland got their rolling maul moving and went over the whitewash with ease. They were awarded a penalty try and England were reduced to 14-men for side entry at the maul.

Three minutes later second-row Euan McVie went over the try line but knocked the ball on in the process.

HALF TIME: England 10-12 Scotland

Scotland were reduced to 14-men again only five minutes into the second half when Callum Smyth was shown a yellow card for foul play, England slotted the penalty to give them a one-point lead.

When England were penalised for off-side Scotland pulled a head thanks to a successful long rage penalty by Murdoch Lock, England 13-15 Scotland.

With less than 10 minutes to go, the England scrum-half took a quick-tap penalty and darted up-field to score and uncovered try to give them a three-point lead.
