Scotland U20 v Georgia U20

In a tight opening 10 minutes, Scotland opted chip and chase kicks on several occasions, and it eventually came off. Christian Townsend knocked the ball over the top and chased it down to score, narrowly beating the Georgian defender to it.

And Scotland had a second try four minutes later. As Petre Khutsishvili went to kick clear from his own 22, Andy Stirrat charged forward and charged it out, and showed great pace to get to the ball before it went dead and touch it down. After missing the first, Townsend was successful with the conversion

Georgia got themselves back into the game in the 20th minute, as a driving maul got to the line and Radi Zadzadze grounded the ball. A successful conversion brought Scotland’s lead down to five points.

And Georgia scored a second maul try in the 28th minute. This time it was Beka Shvangiradze who finished it off, but the conversion was unsuccessful and the scores were level.

The side in red took the lead for the first time in the 32nd minute. Alexandre Kuntelia was too powerful for the Scottish defence and this time the conversion was good.

They then secured the bonus points before half time, as the ball was worked out to the right and Shalva Aptsiauri dived over in the corner.

With the last play of the half, Scotland kicked a penalty to the left corner, but the resulting maul led to an unplayable ball and the dark blues were unable to score.

Half time: Scotland U20 12-26 Georgia U20

Georgia scored their fifth just under 15 minutes into the second half, as Zazadze bundled over for his second.

In the 57th minute, Khutsishvili kicked over a penalty to wider Georgia’s lead further.

Scotland then pulled one back as Max Williamson showed his strength to drag himself over from short range.

But Georgia hit back instantly as Aptsiauri sprinted clear and offloaded to Beka Shvangiradze for his second.

In the 71st minute Georgia scored their seventh as a driving maul reached the line from 20 metres out and Paata Galvada finished it off.

Another maul try came in the 75th minute, with Nikoloz Babunashvili being dragged over.
