Clubs enjoy record breaking Royal Bank RugbyForce Weekend

Rugby clubs across Scotland opened their doors this weekend (11 and 12 August) to ready their clubhouses for the new season and invite the local community to enjoy a range of activities as part of the Royal Bank of Scotland RugbyForce weekend.

A total of 20 Scotland men and women stars visited clubs while members of Scottish Rugby staff also lent a hand at grounds across the regions on what turned out to be a record-breaking weekend.

Haddington were one club to welcome Scotland internationalists as they set about trying to break the world record for the most players in a game of touch rugby.

Stuart McInally, WP Nel and Scotland Women player, Sarah Law, headed to Neilson Park on Sunday as the club saw 458 players play over a six-hour period to set a new record.

Other clubs enjoyed fun-filled days at Biggar, Fraserburgh, Leith and Selkirk as new and established stars joined in the festivities as clubs looked to attract new players ahead of the season.

Events ranged from barbeques and raffles to training and taster sessions and saw over 140 clubs in Scotland take part in the RugbyForce programmes over the past number of weeks.

Glenrothes, Paisley, Lasswade and Bishopton hosted DIY days as they kept their facilities up to date before their first matches in the coming weeks.

More Scotland players, including Pete Horne, Stuart Hogg and Jonny Gray, rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in as these clubs made sure they were ready to welcome new and old players.

Scottish Rugby staff from the Rugby Development department, also got involved by visiting clubs, helping out and supporting the activities on offer.
