GHK host Firewalk event for Breast Cancer Care

GHK host Firewalk event for Breast Cancer Care

GHK Rugby Club turned up the heat on a cold March evening as they hosted a fire walking event in aid of Breast Cancer Care.

The Firewalk was hosted at Old Anniesland on 7 March as part of the support GHK RFC is giving to Breast Cancer Care Scotland.

With temperatures exceeding 1200C, hot enough to melt aluminium, each participant had essential training, including motivational and psychological methods, in preparation for the firewalk.

The minimum age limit to participate was 16 years old, but friends and family were encouraged to attend on the night and cheer from the side-lines.

Over £8k was raised by the club for Breast Cancer Care Scotland, with over 40 participants taking part in the walk.

Ronnie Gourley GHK Club President said: “As GHK is, again, hosting the Firewalk for Breast Cancer Care Scotland I thought I should put my heart and sole into it, my best foot forward and fire up folk’s enthusiasm for this great cause”

“We were happy to have hosted our second breast cancer fire walk at Old Anniesland and great to see so many from the rugby club having taken part. It was well organised, for once the president was walking the walk.”
