Grassie and Thomson’s Board tenures extended

Scottish Rugby’s Board has announced its Chairman Colin Grassie will continue in the role beyond the end of his current term after his tenure was extended.
Lesley Thomson QC was also invited to continue her independent non-executive director role on the Board and will serve for a further three years from October 1.
The Board took the recommendations to extend both roles from its Nominations Committee and agreed unanimously.
With the rugby landscape going through a period of exceptional change and with external factors likely to create new opportunities the Board collectively wanted to maintain a level of operating consistency within the organisation.
Both Grassie and Thomson bring a depth and relevance of experience to their respective roles, which the Board felt would be invaluable to Scottish Rugby at this time.
Colin Grassie joined the Board of Scottish Rugby in 2012 and was appointed as Chairman in 2017. His current term as Chairman runs until December 2019 and will be then extended for a period of 18 months.
Grassie, a former CEO in the UK and former member of the Group Executive Committee of Deutsche Bank. He currently serves on the Board of Lakestar, one of Europe’s leading technology venture capital companies.
Lesley Thomson QC was the first woman to be appointed to the Scottish Rugby Board in 2013 and was re-appointed for a further three years in 2016.
Thomson was formerly Scotland’s Solicitor General. She currently sits on the World Rugby Council and is a former general committee member at Melrose RFC.
