Scotland head to Spain ahead of Six Nations

Scotland Women will travel to Spain in the new year for a Test match in preparation for the 2020 Women’s Six Nations, playing on Sunday 19 January (12pm CET / 11am GMT) in Almeria.

Following their recent successful tour to South Africa, where they not only had two wins but also moved up one place in the rankings, this Test will be of great significance.

Head of Girls’ and Women’s Rugby Gemma Fay said: “This year is all about us trying to put ourselves in the best position possible ahead of the World Cup qualifiers next year.

“The upcoming Autumn Test matches at Scotstoun will be very important to us and we can hopefully develop as a team even further, ahead of the 2020 Women’s Six Nations.

“This season, we are really focussing on us as a squad and ensuring that we do everything possible to prepare ourselves for a crucial year next year. This includes continuing to focus on getting our ranking points higher, as well as developing ourselves both on and off the pitch as a squad.

Scotland Head Coach Philip Doyle said: “The two wins in South Africa were a great way to start the season and I am really proud of the squad for the work that they put in both at the training ground and on the field in Cape Town.

“We now need to keep that momentum and commitment going. An away Test against Spain will be a fantastic way to prepare ourselves for the 2020 Women’s Six Nations. Spain are a regular opponent for Scotland and a good team to play against to test what level we are at.”

Scotland will return to Scotstoun to play Wales on Sunday 17 November, followed by Japan on Sunday 24 November. Packages and match tickets are on sale now for Scotland’s Autumn Tests and Six Nations matches, secure your tickets now.
