Scotland on the right track for Summer Test opener

Edinburgh Trams and Scottish Rugby will be ‘As One’ today when, for the first time, the Scotland squad travel direct from BT Murrayfield to Edinburgh Airport for their flight to face France in tomorrow’s opening 2019 Summer Test in Nice.

The squad will travel on a uniquely branded Scottish Rugby Tram, which features fan favourites Stuart Hogg and John Barclay in the new Scottish Rugby kit for the forthcoming season.

The national squad will be joined by a group of lucky supporters who will have the opportunity meet their favourite rugby stars on board as the tram glides to the airport.

The new partnership between Scottish Rugby and Edinburgh Trams will continue until spring 2020, with the internal advertising panels changing to reflect the Scottish rugby calendar.

Lea Harrison, Managing Director, Edinburgh Trams, said: “Normally we are taking fans to and from BT Murrayfield, this time we’re excited to be supporting the national team and taking them on their specially branded tram to the airport as they start their journey into the 2019 Summer Tests.”

David Edge, Scotland team Performance Services Operations Manager, said: “The links from BT Murrayfield Stadium to the city and the airport make traveling by tram a great option for our team after our final training session of the week.

“Travelling by bullet train is something we’ll do several times when we’re in Japan so it’ll be useful experience to mobilise the team for a journey of this kind, rather than our usual team bus.”
