Scotland Women match against Italy postponed

Scottish Rugby has today received confirmation from Six Nations that the Scotland Women match against Italy today has been postponed.

This decision has been made by the Italian Government due to an increased number of Corona-virus (Covid-19) cases in the Milan Area.

Late last night it was confirmed that the Minister of Sport, Vincenzo Spadafora, intended to suspend all sporting events planned for today in the Veneto and Lombardy regions due to the growing threat of virus.

The Women’s Six Nations match between Italy and Scotland was due to kick-off at 5.10pm GMT in Legnano which falls in the Lombardy region of Italy.

The Italian Government confirmed today’s Women’s Six Nations match will be cancelled to due to a need to contain the virus in the South East area of the region. The match was scheduled to go ahead in the North West region of the area, so whilst the risk is minimal, precautionary measures have been taken.

Scottish Rugby is fully supportive of any decision that has been made in the interest of the health and safety of players, staff and supporters.

Six Nations, FIR and Scottish Rugby are continuing discussions in regard to the rescheduling of the fixture.

Scottish Rugby have put plans in place for all staff and players to travel back to Scotland today.
