Scotland Women U19 do the double over England North at the School Games

Scotland Women U19 enjoyed a competitive tournament as they contested the 2017 School Games in Loughborough.

Following regular training in the lead up to the event, a squad of 12 travelled south to play regional teams from England, Wales and Ireland.

The development side’s fifth year at the Games, which is a multi-sport event for British athletes of school age, saw them come away with two wins over England North and a draw with England Midlands.

The squad enjoyed a closely fought tournament scoring 16 tries in the process as they took on the UK’s best young players - Evie Gallagher leading the squad scoring with five.

The School Games also provided a development opportunity for coaches.

Head Coach Louise Dalgliesh and Assistant Coach Claire Cruikshank are in the first intake of the Female Coach Mentoring Programme - launched by Scottish Rugby in 2016 to develop up and coming coaches in the women’s game.
