SCOTTISH CUP: TEAMS TAKE AIM AT QUARTER-FINALS

SCOTTISH CUP: TEAMS TAKE AIM AT QUARTER-FINALS

Eight Scottish Cup fixtures take place this weekend, with some fascinating ties in store including Tennent’s Premiership showdowns, local derbies and plenty of other intrigue.

Millbrae will be the scene of arguably the day’s most anticipated tie, as Tennent’s Premiership pacesetters Marr take a short hop to local rivals Ayr, who won the league and cup double last season.

Gala welcome borders neighbours Kelso to Netherdale with both sides in good spirits on the back of strong performances in Tennent’s National One last weekend, drawing with Watsonians and beating Heriot’s Blues respectively.

The Goldenacre side, flying high in the second tier having lost a solitary game, host top-flight GHA, while fellow Glasgow outfit Cartha Queen’s Park travel down to Mansfield Park to take on Hawick.

Selkirk will hope to back up a good win last weekend when they host Currie Chieftains at Philiphaugh

In the battle to reach the last eight of this season’s cup competition, Musselburgh make the short trip along to play Edinburgh Accies, with the game being held at Newfield rather than Raeburn Place, kicking off at 2:30pm (all other ties 3pm). Selkirk, fresh off the back of scoring ten tries last weekend, play host to Currie Chieftains at Philiphaugh in another Premiership tussle.

Elsewhere, Stirling Wolves will make the near-300 round mile trip up to Inverness to face Highland at Canal Park and Boroughmuir welcome Jed-Forest, although the game is to be played at Myreside and not Meggetland.
