Scottish Rugby powers up new deal with Saltire Energy

Scottish Rugby has signed a new sponsorship agreement with Aberdeen-headquartered Saltire Energy, which now becomes an official partner and supporter of youth rugby.

The three-year deal from July 2021 will see the oilfield equipment specialists with pitch side advertising on international matchdays at BT Murrayfield and Scotstoun Stadium for both Scotland’s men’s and women’s teams, promoting its brand across the globe, and with a focus on reaching Scots working in the oil industry both at home and overseas.

To support the development of youth rugby and the next generation of future internationals Saltire Energy will also become the Official Partners of the new Scottish Rugby Schools Week planned for September 2021.

Its passion for youth rugby is also expressed through title sponsorship of the Caledonia Cup which is played by age-banded teams of boys and girls across the region, culminating in an annual Finals day, which was last contested in 2019.

Saltire Energy will also become a member of the Scotland Business Club.

Founded by Mike Loggie in 1986, Saltire’s investment in state-of-the-art facilities and innovative product lines has seen the company grow to service worldwide operations via its facilities in the UK, Norway, Abu Dhabi and Singapore.

The highly successful family business is one of the leading equipment rental suppliers across the energy sector and the deal draws on the company’s proud Scottish roots and a desire to reinforce this through support of its national rugby teams.

Saltire founder and Chief Executive, Mike Loggie said: “As an enthusiastic supporter of Scottish Rugby, Saltire Energy is thrilled to be announced as an official partner, particularly at what happens to be such an exciting time for our national teams and as the game resumes.”

Saltire Energy is passionate about supporting the communities in which it operates, demonstrated by the ‘Saltire in the Community’ initiative which provides life-changing opportunities to disadvantaged children and young people both at home and overseas. Throughout much of the good that it does, there is a particular focus upon the positive impact of sport.

Mike continues: “We are therefore very excited to backing the next generation of young, Scottish players through our partnership with Scottish Rugby Schools Week and sponsorship of the Caledonia Cup involving young people from our local region. With that in mind, Saltire Energy takes huge pride in supporting Scottish Rugby, whose core values of respect, leadership, achievement, engagement and enjoyment are fundamental to all that we stand for.”

Scottish Rugby’s Head of Group Marketing & Commercial, Toni Blackhurst said: “We would like to welcome Mike and everyone at Saltire Energy to the Scottish Rugby partner family, and we look forward to working with them.

“It is great to bring a new Scottish brand on board which both recognises the power of sport and clearly wants to extend its passion for Scotland’s national teams into commercial support. We are all keen to see BT Murrayfield full again on match day and know it creates a fantastic environment for partners to showcase their brands to fans at home and abroad.

“As rugby across Scotland resumes, we want to take this opportunity to drive awareness and participation in the sport so it is really positive to have Saltire Energy support our Scottish Rugby Schools Week and the Caledonia Cup, both of which will see young people enjoy rugby and the benefits it brings.”
