U16 FOSROC Scottish Rugby Academy Regional Championship returns

U16 FOSROC Scottish Rugby Academy Regional Championship returns

The U16 FOSROC Scottish Rugby Academy Regional Championship returns today [Sunday 10 April] at Lasswade RFC.

Similar to the older U17 and U18 age-grade Championships which returned in February, the U16 trophy was last played for in August 2019, due to the coronavirus pandemic. (Pictured is the victorious Borders and East Lothian side in 2019).

The U16 FOSROC Scottish Rugby Academy Regional Championship series will run over three weekends at Lasswade RFC, Dalziel RFC and Gala Rugby/3G Arena, Netherdale.

In in a slightly different format to their older age-grade counterparts, each FOSROC Scottish Rugby Regional Academy will put forward two teams representing each region from Glasgow and the West, Caledonia, Edinburgh and the Borders and East Lothian.

More players will be involved ensuring more players gaining training and playing experiences in a representative high-performance environment before making the step up to potential national representative rugby and the Scotland U18 programme next season.

Every game will have 10 points for a win, five points for a loss and eight points for a draw, in addition every try is worth one point. The winning region will be the one with the most points after the 12 matches.

Spectators are welcome to all fixtures across the series.
