Winning Scotland’s work recognised by Scottish Rugby

Scottish Rugby gave recognition to the Winning Scotland Foundation on Sunday at Oriam for its commitment, which has spanned over nine years, to help deliver the Positive Coaching Scotland (PCS Plus) programme.

Aspects of the courses will now be adapted for Scottish Rugby’s campaign, ‘Everyone’s Game’. This will be incorporated by Scottish Rugby staff to support clubs on the implementation of Values Ambassadors.

The Values Ambassador programme will see clubs nominating one of their members to promote positive behaviours and key rugby values within their club over the Rugby World Cup period and beyond.

Morag Arnot, Executive Director of Winning Scotland Foundation said: “Scottish Rugby have been extremely supportive of PCS Plus, and we’re delighted they made a long-term commitment to the programme. Throughout this partnership PCS Plus has reached thousands of young players in every corner of the country, supporting our ambition for all young people in Scotland to develop confidence and resilience.”

The aims of the PCS Plus programme are to develop players on and off the field. Winning Scotland Foundation has worked closely over the years with Scottish Rugby to help educate clubs, schools and individuals to share a width and depth of experience from different aspects of the game.

Richard Orr of the Winning Scotland Foundation was presented with a signed Scotland shirt on Sunday by Scottish Rugby’s Head of Training and Education, Neil Graham, to say thanks to the organisation for their support.

Former Scotland internationalist, Chris Paterson, who has been involved in a number of capacities with Winning Scotland Foundation said, “It’s been a great initiative, which I’ve been involved in for many years. It’s been a vehicle to create a real impact using the programme, which allows clubs in Scotland to benefit their individuals and communities.”

Clubs are still encouraged to sign up for this year’s Rugby World Cup campaign of ‘Everyone’s Game’, details can be found HERE
