Fosroc Academy Girls' Early Talent ID Programme

The 2018-19 girls’ Early Talent Identification Programme will launch this September 2018 for U16 and U18 players.

The programme aims to prepare players to succeed in rugby by developing core rugby skills, game understanding and the ability to play with speed.

Programme Details

The U16 programme running in Edinburgh, Glasgow & The West, Borders & East Lothian and Caledonia includes:

  • Regional skills sessions or camps
  • Two national training and game days (Sunday 11 November & Sunday 24 March) led by Scottish Futures U18 coaching staff
  • A residential transition camp (1-2 June 2019) for 20 select players

The content is based on the Scottish Rugby Technical Blueprint and the format and timings of the sessions or camps will vary by region. The programme will start at the end September/early October in all regions.

The U18 programme includes:

  • Regional skills sessions or camps
  • Regional Tournament Day (1 December) with the Scottish Futures U18 squad

  • Endurance
  • Hand-eye coordination
  • High energy and work rate
  • Strong tackler
  • Catch and pass skills
  • Game awareness & rugby knowledge
  • Positive attitude
  • Teamwork
