Athletic, Australian-born lock Ben Toolis made his Scotland debut as a late replacement against Italy at BT Murrayfield in the 2015 RBS 6 Nations Championship, having been in impressive form for Edinburgh Rugby.
He arrived at the club in the summer of 2013 from Queensland Premier Grade side GPS Old Boys having represented Australia Youth (under-18) and Junior (under-20) at volleyball prior to his arrival in the Scottish capital, which sits alongside his impressive rugby pedigree.
The lock represented the Australian National Academy in the 2013 IRB Pacific Nations Cup, and reached consecutive Premier Grade semi-finals in 2012 and 2013, an honour he shared with his twin brother Alex.
Ben signed a full pro contract in 2014 and, after solid performances starting for the club during autumn, he earned an extension to his contract until May 2016.
He made a full Scotland debut in the 2015 Six Nations against Italy at BT Murrayfield and although he missed World Cup selection that year, the second-row did make the cut for Japan in 2019, featuring in Scotland's Pool A victory over Russia.
