Christopher Paul Dean joined Edinburgh in the summer of 2014 after a successful stint with Scotland 7s as part of the Academy programme.
He made his first competitive start in September 2015 and captained Edinburgh to their sole Ladies’ Cup triumph at Melrose 7s a year later.
He enjoyed a breakthrough 2017/18 campaign - making his 50th apperance for the club.
Through the ranks...
A former pupil of Law Primary School in North Berwick, he attended Edinburgh Academy and captained them to Scottish Schools' Cup success in 2009, 2010 and 2011 at both U15 and U18 levels.
He was also a member of the sevens team that took part in the Youth Commonwealth Games in 2011 in the Isle of Man and has represented Edinburgh at U16 and U18 levels.
Dean captained Scotland at U17 level throughout the Wellington Festival in 2011 and received a Scotland 7s Elite Development contract in May 2012 before joing Edinburgh Rugby full-time at the outset of the 2014/15 season.
At just 19 years of age, Dean was the first Scot to score a try at the 2013 Rugby World Cup 7s in Moscow, in his country's opening match against Japan. He scored three tries in total in that tournament.
