As 2015 World Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year nominee, Mark Stewart Bennett catipulted onto the international stage after consistently exciting performances for Glasgow Warriors and Scotland 7s, by making a winning debut for Scotland in the 41-31 viagogo Autumn Test against Argentina.
The highly-rated young centre was one of only five players who started every RBS 6 Nations Championship match in 2015 - impressive for a maiden year - and capped some fine displays with two tries against Italy at BT Murrayfield (his first score in international rugby) and England at Twickenham.
Bennett continued his fine form into the 2015 Summer Test matches and was again on the scoresheet against Italy in the 48-7, before earning selection against France the following weekend.
His performances ulitmately earned him a place in the 31-man Scotland squad for the 2015 Rugby World Cup where he ran in three tries in four appearnaces - two in the opening match against Japan and a third in the dying minutes of the quarter-final against Australia [pictured].
Through the ranks...
Bennett represented Scotland four times at under-18 level and 17 times at under-20 level, and captained the Glasgow under-18 and under-16 teams.
Bennett turned out for Cumnock all the way through to the 1XV before moving to Ayr and after a highly successful season with the Premier Cup 2011 champions he signed for French Top 14 side Clermont Auvergne.
His father, Stewart, played for Carnoustie HSFP, Kilmarnock and Cumnock. His sister also plays and was selected for the under-18 Scotland pathway squad.
In season 2012/13 he returned to Glasgow Warriors on loan and has since made the move permanent.
