With the suspension Scotland 7s programme due to covid-19, Head Coach Ciaran Beattie joined the Scotland U20 coaching set up in April of 2021.

Beattie represented Scotland at age-grade level as part of a group of players containing namesake Johnnie Beattie and Greig Laidlaw, with whom he vied for a scrum-half berth in the 2002 national U18 set-up.

Spells with Border Reivers and Edinburgh Rugby were played out in tandem with a Scotland 7s career culminating in a place in Rob Moffat’s squad for the Melbourne Commonwealth Games in 2006.

The Selkirk man has an abundance of coaching experiences. He was formerly Assistant Coach of Scotland Women, led on the rugby programme at Loughborough University and more recently as Head Coach of Scotland 7s.
