Alec Coombes was named as a core member of the Scotland 7s squad for the first time ahead of the 2018/19 season, making his first appearance on the World Series in January 2018 and featuring in 16 events since, as well as representing Team GB at the Olympic Games and in the early stages of the currents HSBC World Sevens Series.
The 25 year-old has previously represented Scotland at U20 level, where he played in the same 2015 World Championship squad as current 7s teammate Ally Miller, and scored a try in their narrow defeat to Australia.
In his embryonic XVs career, Coombes featured both at centre and on the wing and was formerly part of Bath’s academy set-up before joining London Scottish initially on an Academy contract in 2014.
