Scotland v Russia

Rugby World Cup 2019

Scotland have played Russia at various international levels (Scotland A, Scotland 7s, Scotland Women) but the two teams have never met at international Test level.

Future Scotland front-row colleagues Al Dickinson and Ross Ford in action for Scotland U21 against Russia U21 at the IRB U21 World Championship in Glasgow, 2004.

Russia at a glance

This Russia’s second appearance at a Rugby World Cup, having first played at the 2011 tournament in New Zealand. Coached by former Wales internationalist Lyn Jones, the team finished runners-up in the 2019 World Rugby Nations Cup earlier this summer with wins over Argentina XV and Namibia. Russia kick-off the 2019 Rugby World Cup at Tokyo Stadium on Friday 20 September when they face host nation Japan in the opening fixture.
