Scotland travel to Kobe for their second pool game, against Samoa on Monday 30 September at Kobe Misaki Stadium. This will be the 12th time the two teams have met (nine Scotland wins, one Samoa win one draw). This will be the fourth time the two sides have met in a Rugby World Cup. Scotland have won all three previous encounters in 1991, 1999 and 2015, although the game four years ago in Newcastle was a close affair with Greig Laidlaw securing the win with a late try.
Samoa at a glance
Manu Samoa have reached the Rugby World Cup Quarter-Finals on two occasions (1991 and 1995) and are renowned for the power of their defence and thrilling brand of attacking rugby. Samoa come into the tournament after finishing 4 th in the Pacific Nations Cup campaign after defeats by USA and Fiji.
