Summer Tests

With the Rugby World Cup taking place from September – October, there will be no Autumn Tests in 2019. Instead, Scotland's final preparation for the tournament in Japan will be home and away fixtures against France and Georgia. The game against France offers a fantastic opportunity to enjoy international rugby in the summer sunshine, while the Georgia game is the first ever Scotland Test to played on a Friday evening.

France v Scotland | Saturday 17 August, Allianz Riviera, Nice (kick-off 9pm local time / 8pm GMT)

Scotland kick off the series of four warm-ups in the south of France. After the disappointment of the Guinness Six Nations clash in Paris in February Gregor Townsend will want to get his preparations off to a flyer against Les Bleus before welcoming them to BT Murrayfield the following weekend.

SCOTLAND v FRANCE | SATURDAY 24 AUGUST, BT MURRAYFIELD (kick-off TBC)

What a game this promises to be! In addition to the usual colour, spectacle and general bonhomie associated with any Scotland v France game, this one takes place on the last weekend of the Edinburgh International Festival, when the city will already be buzzing. A big crowd is expected to welcome the Scotland team in what will be their first home appearance since the now famous five-try second-half comeback against England at Twickenham.

Georgia v Scotland | Saturday 31 August, Dinamo Arena, Tbilisi, Georgia (kick-off TBC)

Georgia, currently ranked 12th in the world (one below Japan) are in the same Rugby World Cup pool with Australia, Wales, Fiji and Uruguay. This first game in the double-header against Scotland is being played in Tiblisi where the Scots will become the first Tier 1 nation to face the Lelos on Georgian soil.

SCOTLAND v GEORGIA | FRIDAY 6 SEPTEMBER, BT MURRAYFIELD (kick-off TBC)

The return game against Georgia at BT Murrayfield is also historic, as it’s the first ever Scotland home game to be played on a Friday night! The two teams have met twice before, the most recent at Rugby Park in Kilmarnock in the 2016 Autumn Tests, when Scotland won 43-16 (the other was in the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand). With the Scotland Squad heading off to Japan just two days after the game, supporters coming along to BT Murrayfield after work and school on the Friday night can expect a party atmosphere as we send Gregor Townsend and his team of coaches and players on their way in style!
